We got finished shearing at the end of December - 2500 sheep sheared and nearly 600 lambs marked - a quicker and more professional job than last year

(but it helps when you know how many sheep you have to start with !) and after a few Xmas festivities and a fantastic New Years at the Bluff, it's all hands back on deck for Gnaraloo 2007.

Rick (and helpers) is ploughing on with our water supply development, getting a second well pumping at Flemings - the beach wells that provide water for the RO plant to make freshwater at the homestead.

Barb had a well earned holiday during January - but is now back in her new office in Perth - she will be contacting 2007 bookings in the next few weeks to confirm 2007 pricing etc (see the accomodation listings on this site to see details).

Suzy has been locked away since the end of mustering - getting this website finalised and ready to go public. She hates being inside when the weather is so nice - but it's a necesary evil and since she now has her horses (Blaze and Strobe) on site she can at least go for a good gallop at the end of the day. She's still talking about the ride she and Blaze did down from Warroora (57km in 2 days) - photos of her Outback adventure will soon be on the photo album section...

Star and Meg (our two crazy kelpies) had their first birthday just before Xmas and their first go at a bit of sheep work during shearing. Neither shows much sign of becoming any more 'grown up' - I guess we'll have to wait a few more years for that !

Steve now has his fiancee, Brooke in residence at 3 mile, and is looking very happy about it. They will be focusing their efforts on getting 3 mile tidied and set up for the 2007 season (including a possible makeover for the unisex toilet block), as well as expanding their living space ready for the arrival of Brookes daughter, Riley, who will be moving out to join them early in the new year. Not content with surfing as 'tombies only local', Steve has invested in some kite surfing gear and is currently taking lessons - so watch out for him flying through the waves in the future !

Paul is desperately trying to get out of the office and away from his political work long enough to get some more buildings completed. We will be out of the New Homestead by March so that it will be available to rent - for those of you with a big enough budget it will provide Gnaraloo's first 'luxury' accomodation, complete with double beds, satellite TV and freshwater on tap. We will also be working on completing some accomodation for the long term staff, and finishing the old office as our new reception and shop at the Homestead site.

Talking of the comforts of civilisation, we are currently trialling a new wireless router on both sites - in the next few months we will be able to offer wireless internet access to those of you who bring laptops to Gnaraloo - we'll keep you posted on our progress.

So that's about all our news - it's traditionally pretty quiet up here for the summer months, but this year we're noticing more windsurfers staying on into the new year (with the conditions we've been having, they can't bear to tear themselves away), and a few families coming out from Carnarvon for a post Xmas break. If you're passing and fancy seeing Gnaraloo with less crowds do pop in or give us a call as there are some pretty attractive summer deals available on the accomodation at the Homestead Site (30% off 2007 prices) and some good camps available at 3 mile.

Love to all - we'll be seeing you
